Was Alec Baldwin’s character plotting to kill Anthony Hopkins the entire movie, i.e. was that his intention when they got on to the plane, or did he just decide to kill him once he had the chance in the wilderness? My friend and I have a disagreement over this aspect of the movie.

Alec Baldwin had planned Anthony Hopkins’ death before they got on the plane, so Alec could be with Anthony’s wife. That is the whole point of the show. Alec and Anthony are enemies but they are forced to work together to survive. It shows how the petty troubles of civilization mean nothing in nature.
