AC/DC Trivia!
I have a project for physics where i am supposed to work w/ a partner to disassemble any e&m device. We chose to disassemble an ac-dc power adapter but first we have to come up with how to do so. After looking in the web for a long time we could not come up with instructions. So can anyone tell me how to take apart an ac-dc adapter, step by step? Thanks

If you are talking about home or office AC to DC adapters, such as a land phone, or Speakers adapter, then it is easy.

Most of these adapters came sealed from factories, and some are assembled using screws, it is better to get the one with screws, and just use Philips Head screw driver to unscrew it.

If you are going to work with a sealed adapter, then you will need to use an old knife and a flame such as a torch or stove flame, locate the line where the adapter was sealed by heat, them heat the old knife and use it to melt that line all around the adapter, WALA, it is open.

Make sure to use all safety precautions, such as goggles, heat resistant gloves, and make sure that the adapter is unplugged during the process, good luck.
