In the midst of criticism and down right bashing by the media, Serena Williams continues to be a coveted Tennis Star. Promoters of the WTA Championships offer fervent praise.
“Having Serena is a dream come true. She is one of the best players ever and having her here in Madrid presents a great opportunity for fans to watch her,” said Tournament Director and Spanish tennis legend Manolo Santana. “I am delighted to have her with us. Her comeback has been impressive and I am sure she will be fighting for the title.”

Tennis seems to be a sport in which the players seem to peak by 21 or so. By that time, we are just getting to know them. When Serena started @17, she was already one of the best. Now however, she is past her prime, but everyone who fell in love with Serena is still paying good money to come and see her.
