035/365 – Messing with the lighting

Ok, So when I decieded to do this 365 Days thing, it was meant to be

A) A journal
B) Inspiration to do new things
C) A chance to work on my photograpy/lighting skills

So far, it hasn’t really turned into that. So this pic is a slight attempt to get back to that. My wife wanted to go to this Steve & Barry’s place that just opened near us (Something about Sarah Jessica Parker, but I don’t get that), and they seemed to have a few cool things at rediculous prices (in a good way). So when we got home I tried to shot this all Macro using only the light from a paper IKEA lamp I have in my office. I’m really happy with the almost sepia effect it came out with.

So, I guess, in a small way, this shot got me back to the basics of this thing.

In another hair-brained scheme born of his quixotic forays across the globe, the great Charley Naney stopped in Indiana today on his way to Bethel, Alaska, with a "gIrl" companion in his car. Turns out that AAA unwittingly gave him directions to Bloomington, Illinois, instead of Bloomington, Indiana. Thus, in spite of pulling the wool over my eyes concerning the female, we met at Clannagh’s Irish Pub in Indianapolis for the best sandwiches we have ever had in our lives and a filling pint of Dennis the Guinness the Menace.

Pictured here the pub (where the following scene came to pass: the waiter asks what people in Tennessee eat and Charley responds: "Oh, just bugs and little boys’ testicles. Do you serve condescension with your food?"), at the time this picture was taken, with the help of his laptop, Charley has just scared off the two Sarah Jessica Parker-look alikes who came over from the bar.

Fortunately, the complimentary samples of Jameson these grade-A bartendresses brought us set things right again!

We’ll see you in Boston, man — where we’ll find some "authentic" Irish lasses, yo!

As for the road trip, it’s a long way to Tipperary!
