Johnny Depp, as John Wilmot in The Libertine, ponders the significance of this spiky fruit. Someone on IMDB describes him as presenting "empathy never before seen on screen" and a part of his performance as "gut wrenching". I think this is a bit much even for a fan. Good film though.
