Is Manny Pacquiao or Bernard Hopkins Fighter of the Decade?
I was reminded that an article written by Leo Reyes, with his source coming from mp.com.ph , named Manny Pacquiao the Fighter of the Decade. Pacquiao got the same honor from USA Today , Ring Magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America. I think that Pacquiao had a good decade in boxing. But if you will, I’d like to throw out another boxer who should’ve been mentioned: Bernard …

The Hump: Manger (December 23, 2009)

Manger
by Louie Marcelo
December 23, 2009
I hardly write something personal in our release for The Hump. I draw inspiration from the photo given by Zer, and basically just go with the flow. However, upon seeing this Nativity display shot, I just knew that I have to share something real. Something that touched my heart, and gave me a new perspective.
Last December 4, Sister Bubbles shared something really simple and beautiful in our community. With a heartfelt tone, she said, "Advent is for the broken-hearted." I know exactly what you're thinking right now, because that is how I felt too. Then, Sister Bubbles continued with her sharing, and explained the simple profoundness of her Advent reflection.
So many things happened in our country this 2009, some victorious; unfortunately, most of them are tragic. Who can forget the desperate and dim-witted attempt of the Arroyo family to hide their ill-gotten wealth? Who can forget the wrath of nature brought by Typhoon Ondoy? And, who would ever forget the heartbreaking MASSacre in Maguindanao? These are just some of the headliners that, as if not already worse, made the condition in the Philippines worst… made us, somehow, feel ashamed to be called Filipinos. These made us hopeless, exhausted and vulnerable.
But it is the nature of Filipinos to laugh despite challenges and hardship. And, so we cheered our hearts out with the victory of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, our pound per pound boxer. We united, and relived the true spirit of EDSA Revolution during Tita Cory's final journey. Lastly, Efren Peñaflorida proved in the whole world that heroes are not imaginary, and it can be found in the Philippines. These people redefined the essence of being a Filipino. They made us proud to be one. They gave us hope, confidence and importance.
Therefore, Advent is really for the broken-hearted. Why? Because, it teaches us the richness of vulnerability and smallness. As the cliché goes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that light is the little boy in the manger. This is the essence of Advent. This is the essence of Christmas.
The baby in the manger is our hope; He is the ultimate proof of God's unconditional love to us. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Christmas is not about the expensive presents, sparkling decorations and glamorous clothes. Nor, it is about the festive dinner our table. The low profile manger, where are Savior was born, said it all. Christmas is all about our faith. Our hearts may be torn into million pieces, but we just need to believe in God and His promise.
Let us be a blessing to others. Let us keep the light of Jesus Christ alive.
Merry Christmas everyone!

The Hump
Time flies so quickly nowadays, that we fail to appreciate the simplest things and moments in our life. The week just started, and we can’t wait for it to end.
Take a breather. Slow down. Pause. There’s a Hump in the middle of the week, and that is Wednesday.
The Hump, is a joint project of me and Louie. I provide the photos, and she gives the words to them. And, why do we do it? It’s really simple. We just want people to have another perspective on Wednesdays. Just like a hump in the road, Wednesdays should be a time for people to slow down from their fast-paced life.
There’s a Hump ahead. It’s your choice what to do with it.

manny vs oscar fight reactions
at this very moment, de la hoya quit between rounds because he knew and so did everyone else that if he came out for the 9th round, he would have been knocked out by pacquiao.
always wanted to do this… have a camera trained on people during a big match… this time it was the oscar vs manny fight and i was hoping to get some cool reactions… it was okay, but i was cheated out of a really good one because oscar quit in the middle of rounds… if he had gotten knocked down or out by manny, i’m sure i would have had a great reaction shot!

Manny Pacquiao Trivia!
I am a Pacquiao fan and Manny seem to be a smart guy. Don’t tell me money is the reason alone.
This is to Leon Michael Katsidis got KO by Joel Casamayor and Joey Casamayor got KO by Juan Manuel Marquez who already lost to Manny Pacquiao.

Can you think of any other reason?
I don’t remember how much he’s getting paid for fighting De La Hoya, but for sure he won’t make that much fighting anybody else.
Besides, who’s around that can challenge him? At this time, he’s the best fighter in his division.
